During the past year, Associated Metal Kraft has been involved in some memorable projects. One of the most notable was the overhead structural support for a Chuhuly glass sculpture that went into the main lobby of the Pigott Building at Seattle University (Skanska Building USA). Another was a 3 story grand steel stairway with a combination of steel and stainless guardrail and handrail for a 20,000 square foot beach house north of Everett, WA. (Owner—Direct). Our largest for the year was Forest Ridge School in Bellevue, WA—Stair, Guardrail, Handrail, Sunscreens, Bird Screen, Bollard, Elevator Pit Ladder (Mortenson Construction).

However, one of the most interesting was a curved steel stair on a new lakeside residence. The stair had to be fabricated in the shop and then taken apart, transported to the site, carried around the building by hand, which was on a serious slope, and then rebuilt. The degree of difficulty increased due to the fact that there was no base from which to set the stringers. Everything needed to hang off of the upper deck to a landing that was being fabricated during installation.
